About Dihedral

Practice problem-solving before it counts

Why We Built This

The state of technical knowledge in the climbing community isn't great. Too many people tackle serious objectives without the skills to handle things when they go sideways. Whether it's getting caught in the dark, needing to perform a rescue under pressure, or managing an injury miles from the trailhead, real mountain scenarios are unpredictable. These situations are stressful enough without the added panic of not knowing what to do.

Nothing replaces time in the mountains—we're not pretending otherwise. You can't learn to place gear from a screen and no amount of reading will teach you how to bring an unconscious partner down to the ground if you don't get your hands dirty and practice the systems. However, thinking through scenarios and sharpening your problem-solving skills is something you can do anywhere, and we think it's an essential skill for every climber to have.

We hope that Dihedral will help you think through the tricky situations that happen when you are out climbing before they materialize. When you've already thought through what to do if your rappel gets stuck, or how to escape a belay when your partner is injured, you're significantly less likely to have an epic or a tragedy.

Of course, solving these problems requires a solid foundation of technical knowledge. There is already a wealth of amazing educational content out there, but it's often scattered across YouTube videos, blog posts, and guide books. Our lessons bring the best of these resources together, organizing them so you can spend less time searching and more time learning. We aren't trying to reinvent the wheel—just make it easier to find.

Important Note

Dihedral is designed to supplement, not replace, professional climbing instruction. Technical climbing skills require hands-on practice under proper supervision. We strongly encourage you to seek instruction from certified guides and practice in controlled environments before applying these skills in the field.
